Lynsay & Derek planned their wedding to be a true reflection of what they love in life. Lynsay, a Yorkshire girl who loves the countryside and camping in her VW capmervan and Derek a true Scotsman who loves his Scottish heritage, music, beer and festivals decided to go all out with this truly amazing ‘Wedfest’ festival style wedding weekend hidden in the wonderful Peak District.
The ceremony was held in the beautiful picturesque town of Bakewell registry office on a sunny September day. Bakewell is surrounded by beautiful scenery and also really quirky characters as you can see in the photo I captured of the chap in the car who drove past whilst we was waiting for the bride to arrive.
This wedding wasn’t just a day event. Lynsay and Derek had hired a field and a marquee and room at the side for their adventurous outdoor living guests to camp for the weekend (portaloo included) as a lot of the guests had travelled down from Scotland for the event. Using the app ‘what 3 words’ to find the remote location Lynsay and Derek travelled from Bakewell to the secret location in style. A rented VW camper van and a Scottish piper to introduce them to the awaiting guests. Now the party could really get going.
Guests could tuck into bacon sandwiches and lots of celebratory drinks then they were treated to live bands to take them through to the night. But first a adjecent games field full of fun things for both the adults and kids alike. Traditional Highland games included Tug O War and Caber Toss. It was bride team V’s groom and was so much fun to capture for a documentary style photographer.
Lynsay and Derek had thought of everything, games for the children, portrait painting, festival glam make up station, gin bar, pizza bar and a place to dance till the morning sun. Lynsay looked amazing in her dress but the heels were off as soon as we got to the fields like any bride would do.
I loved this wedding as it really did encompass everything that this couple loved and they truly did it there way. Thank you to L & D for a awesome day! xx
